May 26 in the Adzhider (Ovidiopil) fortress of Lower Dniester unfolded the expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under the direction of Doctor of Historical Sciences I.V . Sapozhnikov. The structure of the "Expedition 53" included a group of searchers Military History Center "Memory and Glory", led by the chairman of L.V. Ignatiev.
The next stage of the preparation of our expedition was to accept an arrival of a second tier of field equipment. At this time the tent city grew an additional ten units, among which stands out the impressive dimensions, only one - the place for future field exposure artifacts discovered in the course of research. Tent giant took a lot of time from the archaeologists!

The other day we were in a rafting camp of extreme party on the Southern Bug River, located on the island of MIG (in the National Park "Buzko Garde").
Briefly about the residents. Until the middle of the XI century, the area was inhabited by Buzhane, Uglich, Tivertsy, Torquay, Pechenegs, Khazars. Until the middle of the XIII century, Cumans were the dominant population. Later, the south-western part was the occupied by Lithuanians, and the rest was roaming Tatars, who contributed to the treatment of the country in the steppe.
It is time to talk about the most interesting part of any archaeological expedition - about the findings. Of course, it is still not enough time for scientists to find something truly unique , however, even those antiquities discovered at the start have a lot to tell the researchers. About what? Recently there is another attraction, in Ovidiopol , which has become "rarity" for both guests and local residents. Archaeological Camp of the Expedition 53, situated on the shore of the Dniester estuary, riveted the attention of the local authorities and organizations that doing their utmost to provide all possible support for the research expedition, and will be happy to come themselves to observe the excavations.
Evening. Nothing was saying trouble, when they heard the first clap of thunder and... it all started! Just when the archeological expedition settled in the tent city, the disaster intervened in the moderate life rhythm of scientists and delivered a crushing attack on vital points of the Expedition 53.
From 29th to 31st May 2013 a delegation from Piwniczna Zdroj (Poland) visited the area of Ovidiopol. The purpose of the visit was signing of a Polish treaty of friendship and cooperation between the village of Ovidiopol and the city commune Piwniczna-Zdroj. The contract was signed on 30 May 2013 in Ovidiopol village council.
The expedition finally started. All the historical hypotheses and assumptions, a long string of receiving all necessary approvals and permits, a long and careful preparation for the launch, all of it is now left behind ... And so it happened!
